Though the choir stopped rehearsals in mid-March due to the pandemic, depending how things go, we may be able to start again sometime in the Fall, complying, of course, with the health recommendations.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 7:30–9:30. You don’t have to read the Hebrew alef-bes: all lyrics are in transliteration. As we are a community choir, there are no auditions and you don’t have to read music (though that is a helpful skill).

The Vancouver Jewish Folk Choir is now the ONLY Yiddish choir in Canada—although the choir performs as well the music of the Jewish people in Hebrew, Ladino and English, plus other languages of countries where Jews have lived.

The choir performs for holiday celebrations and special events at the Peretz Centre and in the Jewish and mainstream communities. It also holds an annual Spring Concert each June. RIght now, we are beginning rehearsals on our Hanukkah repertoire.
